ITR Hosts Nordic Semiconductor and Avnet Asia, Reinforcing Expertise in Medical-Grade Wearables

ITR proudly welcomed Keane Wong, Regional Sales Manager and Nicholas Sim, Field Application Engineer from Nordic Semiconductor; as well as Jason Wong, IoT Solutions Manager and Tri Dang, Field Application Engineer from Avnet Asia for a courtesy visit, marking a milestone in collaborative innovation for low-power, medical-grade, and miniaturized wearable products.

During the meeting, Nordic Semiconductor expressed keen interest in ITR’s business directions and engineering capabilities. The discussions revolved around enhancing support structures to build better products—not only for mass production but also for prototype and early-stage development.

Avnet Asia, as a key distributor of Nordic’s solutions, emphasized its ability to provide direct customer support through certified engineers within-depth technical expertise, setting them apart from other general distributors.

Recognizing ITR’s role as an Medical Device focused Independent Design House (IDH), Nordic affirmed that ITR can work directly with them for advanced technical consulting. Such collaboration extends to critical areas like:

  • Power Optimization Strategies: Ensuring ultra-low power consumption in wearable medical devices.
  • RF Performance Tuning: Enhancing wireless communication reliability in constrained environments.
  • Firmware & Security Best Practices: Implementing secure, efficient firmware tailored for medical applications.

To further support ITR’s ongoing projects, Nordic Semiconductor and Avnet Asia committed to providing essential component samples with the shortest possible lead times, ensuring seamless product development.

ITR’s Hoang Pham - Business Development Manager, and Dat Huynh - Senior Firmware Engineer, took the opportunity to reflect on their long-standing experience with Nordic’s MCU solutions, particularly the nRF52840 and nRF5340. These MCUs were chosen to meet specific project demands, leveraging their high energy efficiency, robust connectivity, and medical-grade reliability. Throughout development, ITR has consistently benefited from Nordic’s DevZone community, gaining valuable insights and technical support.

As the meeting concluded, ITR reaffirmed its strong interest in Nordic’s latest nRF54L Series Modules, recognizing their potential for next-generation medical wearables. The company also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to maintain direct communication with both Nordic and Avnet in future projects. On their part, Nordic Semiconductor pledged to highlight ITR’s expertise in medical wearable device design and explore potential features in their proprietary magazine, Wireless Quarter. Meanwhile, Avnet Asia committed to strengthening ITR’s supply chain strategy and providing continued engineering support at the local level.
